Adoption Process
The first step to adopting a dog from CWGSR is to submit our Adoption Application. Complete it and return it to us via U.S. Mail or upon completion, scan it and attach it to an eMail to us. Our mailing and eMail addresses are at the top of the application.
Submitting your application is a required pre-requisite to meeting or adopting the dog(s) you may be interested in. No dogs are adopted out until we receive, review and approve your application. Our organization is comprised of volunteers. Please understand that it may take a few days for us to contact you after we receive your application.
We’re Approved! – What’s Next?
A home visit and interview with all family members residing in the home is also required before applicants will be permitted to meet the dog(s) they’re interested in. If you have other pets, we will evaluate how your selected dog interacts with your existing pets before an adoption is approved.
If the dog you’re adopting is not already spayed or neutered, it will be adopted under a “Spay-Neuter Contract.” This means the dog must be spayed or neutered within 30 days of the date of adoption. You will be required to return proof of the spay/neuter. When the veterinary certificate is received by CWGSR, you will receive your spay-neuter deposit back.
What’s the cost to adopt?
Our fees are quite reasonable. To review the cost of adopting a dog from Central Wisconsin German Shepherd Rescue, visit our Adoption Fees page.
